Vernoy Named USTFCCCA Second Team All-American

Senior Charlie Vernoy earned All-America honors for the first time in his career.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Charlie Vernoy has been named a Second Team All-American by the USTFCCCA. The news was announced Monday morning.
Vernoy finished thirteenth in the men's Weight Throw at the NCAA Indoor Championships this past weekend. His finishing mark was 21.03m (69 feet) in what was his final indoor event of his collegiate career.
The thirteenth place finish is the highest placement at the NCAA Indoor Championships by a Beach athlete since 2012 and he becomes the seventeenth Long Beach State student-athlete to earn indoor All-America honors in program history.
The senior throws captain ends his Long Beach State indoor career ranked second in the weight throw with a mark of 71 feet, 11.5 inches set at the BYU Invitational II this past February. He also ranks tenth in the indoor Shot Put with a throw of 54 feet, 5.5 inches set at the MPSF Indoor Championships.
Vernoy was also named the MPSF Men's Athlete of the Meet after setting the stadium record in a Weight Throw Victory while also finishing second in the men's Shot Put.
