Gregory Breaks School Record as Beach Men finish Second at MPSF Championships

Long Beach State indoor track and field wrapped up the MPSF Indoor Championships on Monday with the Beach men finishing second overall behind a school-record performance from junior Ryan Gregory in the heptathlon, while the women placed sixth at the Reno-Tahoe Convention Center.
RENO, Nev. — Long Beach State indoor track and field closed out the MPSF Indoor Championships on Monday at the Reno-Tahoe Convention Center with a school-record performance in the heptathlon and multiple all-time top-10 marks, as the Beach men placed second overall with 169.99 points while the women finished sixth with 57 points.
MEN
Junior Ryan Gregory delivered the headline performance of the meet, winning the heptathlon with a school-record 5,827 points, breaking the previous program mark of 5,399 set in 2011. Gregory dominated the final day, winning the pole vault (15-9) and the 1,000 meters (2:34.39), while placing second in both the 60 hurdles (8.25) and long jump (22-10).
Junior Aidan Turner placed third overall in the heptathlon with 5,219 points, which now ranks sixth in program history. Turner won the 60 meters (6.89), long jump (23-6¼) and 60 hurdles (8.16) during the competition. Senior Milo Orona added five team points with a fourth-place finish (4,712 points), now ranking ninth all-time at Long Beach State.
On the track, senior Adren Parker captured the 400 meters title in 46.99, moving into second all-time in program history. Sophomore Cameron Rhone placed second in the 800 meters in 1:51.71, a mark that now ranks sixth in school history.
In the 60-meter hurdles, freshman Cameron Simmons placed third in 8.08 to move into seventh all-time at Long Beach State. Freshman Terrance Whaley followed in fourth at 8.09, tying for eighth in program history.
Senior Tristyn Flores finished third in the 60 meters (6.71), sophomore Trey Sheron placed fourth (6.76), and freshman Dre'Londe Johnson added two points in seventh (6.95).
In the field events, senior Cytres Vives cleared 6-8¾ (2.05m) to finish second in the high jump, while freshman Steven Evans-Glynn added a fourth-place finish (6-4¾). Junior Jaylon Wells placed third in the shot put with a throw of 54-0.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Dasher, Parker, Flores, Rivituso, Steward, Rhone, and Lopez combined for a time of 3:13.11 to place fourth, a performance that now ranks seventh in program history.
WOMEN
Senior Trinity Barnett placed second in the 60 meters in 7.41, a mark that now ranks fourth in program history. Barnett currently owns both the No. 1 and No. 4 marks in school history.
Senior KiiKii Brown broke the Long Beach State indoor school record in the triple jump, leaping 42-0¾ (12.82m) to surpass the previous mark of 41-8¼ set in 2022. The jump earned her a runner-up finish and eight team points.
Sophomore Mai Ricks added four points in the shot put with a fifth-place throw of 44-10¼.
The Beach men combined for points across 14 events, highlighted by 21 in the heptathlon, 18.99 in the pole vault and 15 in the long jump, as Long Beach State capped the indoor championship season with one school record and several all-time top-10 performances.
