Long Beach State finishes tied for Fifth at the Prestige

Bryce Kvick and Jack Ainscough finished in the Top 25 to lead Long Beach State

LA QUINTA, Calif.- The Long Beach State men's golf team had an impressive showing finishing tied for fifth place at The Prestige golf tournament shooting 38-over par in a highly competitive field against some of the top teams in the nation.

No. 18 ranked Vanderbilt won the tournament with a 16-over par, finishing 10 strokes above No. 48 Oregon (+26). No. 14 Kansas (+29), No. 7 Texas Tech (+33), and Oregon State (+38), which was tied with the Beach, round out the top five.

The Beach were led by junior Bryce Kvick and senior Jack Ainscough who finished the tournament 9-over par and tied for 21st place.

Finishing behind Kvick and Ainscough were freshman Ian Gilligan and senior Tyler Schafer who shot 12-over par for the tournament. Sophomore Isaac Rodea finished 18-over par.

As a team, Long Beach State shot 289-308-293 for a total of 890 for the tournament.

The Beach will be back in action at the Desert Classic in La Quinta, Calif. The tournament is hosted by Wyoming and will begin Wednesday, March 2 and finish on Friday, March 4.
