Isaac Rodea leads the Beach with an even par 71 as he is tied for ninth place
LA QUINTA, Calif. – The first round of The Prestige concluded with Long Beach finishing 5-over par and in fourth place against some of the top teams in Division I College Men's Golf at the Greg Norman Course at PGA West. Leading the Beach individually is sophomore Isaac Rodea.
Rodea shot a 71 for an even par and tied for ninth place, two strokes behind the leaders, Davis Bryant of Colorado State and Reid Davenport of Vanderbilt who are tied for first with 2-under par.
Not a single team finished the first round under par in the competitive tournament at PGA West. No. 18 Vanderbilt and No. 48 Oregon are tied at the top of the leaderboard with a 3-over par. No. 25 LSU (+4), Long Beach State (+5), and No. 14 Kansas (+7) finish out the top 5.
Freshman Ian Gilligan and senior Jack Ainscough both shot a 72 in the opening round for 1-over par, while senior Tyler Schafer and junior Bryce Kvick finished Monday with at 3-over par.
Long Beach will continue play on Tuesday, Feb. 22. Beach fans can follow along at Golfstat.com.
