Long Beach State Men’s Golf Set to Tee off at John Burns Intercollegiate

The Beach will take part in the 18-team tournament which is scheduled for Feb. 17-19
LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Long Beach State Men's Golf team is set to begin spring competition at the 45th John A. Burns Intercollegiate at the Hokuala Ocean Course in Lihue, Hawaii. The three-day tournament will begin with the opening round on Thursday, Feb. 17, the second round on Friday, Feb. 18, and the final round on Saturday, Feb. 19.
The Beach will send their starting lineup of senior Tyler Schafer, junior Bryce Kvick, sophomore Isaac Rodea, freshman Ian Gilligan, and senior Jack Ainscough to tee off at the 7,156-yard par 72 course with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
Long Beach State is one of 18 teams competing in the tournament which is hosted by the University of Hawaii. Joining the Beach and Rainbow Warriors in the 2022 field are Arizona, BYU, Cal, Fresno State, Grand Canyon, New Mexico, Northern Colorado, St. Mary's, Santa Clara, Texas A&M, UC Irvine, UNLV, USC, Utah, UTEP, and Washington State.
LBSU is coming off of a fall season in which the Beach posted a pair of Top 10 finishes and a Top 5 finish at the Paintbrush Invitational in Denver, Colo., on Oct. 4-5.
During the fall season, Schafer led the Beach at the season-opening Husky Invitational with a 3-over par showing.
Gilligan recorded a pair of top finishes for Long Beach State as he was the Beach's top finisher at both the Paintbrush Invitational and the St. Mary's Invitational. His Top 20 finish and 1-under par showing at the St. Mary's Invitational earned him Big West Conference Golfer of the Month honors.
Ainscough also led the Beach in the fall season with a team-best finish of 3-over par for a Top 20 showing at the Wolf Pack Classic.
