Harrison Named to USA Baseball Golden Spikes Award Preseason Watch List

Devereaux Harrison is one of 55 athletes in the country to appear on the watch list.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Devereaux Harrison has been named to the Golden Spikes Award Preseason Watch List by USA Baseball. He is the first Long Beach State student-athlete to be named to the Preseason Watch List since 2008, when USA Baseball began tracking the honorees.
The 2022 preseason watch list features 55 of the nation's top amateur players from high school and college baseball. The Golden Spikes Award Advisory Board will maintain a rolling list of players, allowing athletes to play themselves into consideration for the award throughout the season.
The Vacaville native adds to a tremendous list of accolades that he has accumulated prior to the start of his second full season in black and gold. He garners four preseason All-America selections from Collegiate Baseball, D1Baseball.com, NCBWA, and Perfect Game after being named a Freshman All-American at the end of the 2021 season.
The Dirtbags have had one Golden Spikes Award winner in program history with Jered Weaver claiming the award in 2004. Evan Longoria was named a finalist for the award during his tremendous 2006 campaign.
Harrison and the number 24 ranked Dirtbags open the 2022 season this Friday, February 18, in Starkville, Miss. where they will take on the defending national champion Mississippi State Bulldogs.
