Long Beach State will have 10 home games in addition to the season opening Beach Invite.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State Women's Water Polo has announced their schedule for the 2023 season that sees the Beach looking to capitalize on their momentum from last season.
Long Beach State will again begin the season with a showcase event, hosting the Beach Invite on Saturday, January 21 to kick off the season. Welcoming in seven other teams, each squad will play twice in a busy day with eight games. Long Beach State will play Claremont and Whittier, while CSUN, California Baptist, LBU, La Verne, and Biola will also take part. Opening weekend will also feature the program's annual alumni match, scheduled for Saturday, January 22.
The Beach will then take part in two tournaments, facing USC and hosts California Baptist in The Joust, and then participating in the Triton Invitational, one of the two large regular season tournaments of the season.
Returning home, the Beach hosts Loyola Marymount on February 11, and then will take on a new opponent in the University of Toronto on February 21. After the Barbara Kalbus Invite in Irvine at the end of February, the Beach will then head into the head of the regular season schedule, opening Big West play at home against UC San Diego on March 3.
A new rivalry starts on March 10 as Long Beach State and Cal State Fullerton will meet for the first time ever in women's water polo on March 10 in Fullerton, leading into a stretch of home games for the Beach that sees Princeton, Bucknell and CSUN come into the Ken Lindgren Aquatics Center.
The final home games for Long Beach State see LBSU host Brown on March 29 before senior night against UC Santa Barbara on Saturday, April 8. The Beach closes the regular season on April 22 at UC Irvine and will participate in the Big West Championship, hosted this year by UC Santa Barbara, from April 28-30.
