No. 6 Long Beach State secured a bye into the semifinals as the second seed.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – After a tremendous regular season campaign, No. 6 Long Beach State will now begin their postseason run, entering the Golden Coast Conference Tournament as the highest ranked team entering the weekend and the No. 2 seed in this weekend's six team tournament.

Led by Golden Coast Conference Player of the Year Rafael Real Vergara and fellow First Team All-GCC senior Garrett Zaan, Long Beach State posted a 20-8 overall record through the regular season, and went 4-1 in conference play, with the team's only loss coming to Pacific. The Tigers also went 4-1 in league action, but had the head-to-head victory to claim the top spot in the coming championship.

Ranked just behind the Beach at No. 7, Pacific also earns a bye into the second round of the tournament, as both the Beach and the Tigers will face the winners of two opening round games in the semifinals. The tournament will begin on Friday in Santa Barbara. The tournament kicks off at 5 p.m. when (4) UC Irvine take on (5) Pepperdine, and then the hosts (3) UC Santa Barbara face (6) San Jose State in the second game.

The Beach will begin their tournament on Saturday, November 19 in the second game of the day. Long Beach State will face the winner between the Gauchos and Spartans at 7 p.m., while Pacific plays the winner of the initial game of the tournament. The two winners Saturday will then clash in the tournament championship, scheduled for 2 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.

Vergara was named the GCC Player of the Year for a second straight season, as the junior has scored 68 goals this season, 13 more than his nearest competitor in scoring this season in the Golden Coast Conference. The Beach has been prolific offensively all season, however, as Zaan in one goal away from 50 this season, while senior Matt Morris has also scored 40 goals on the year.

Defending GCC Tournament MVP Andrej Bosanac has recorded 174 saves this season for the Beach, and earlier this year became the 8th keeper in school history to record 500 career saves. He earned Second-Team All-GCC honors. Among the youth contingent, sophomore Evan Cain has scored 37 goals this season for the Beach, earning Honorable Mention honors, while freshmen Bruno Chiappini and Aleksandar Timotijevic have scored 32 and 29 goals respectively, rounding out the top 6 in scoring for LBSU this season.
