
Beach Tennis Concludes Fall Season at Watanabe Classic

The Beach garner two victories in singles and doubles action.
LAS VEGAS, Nev.- Long Beach State Tennis wrapped up the fall season at the Watanabe Classic on Sunday, posting two victories in singles and doubles play.
In doubles action, Sheena Masuda and Peppi Ramstedt gave the Beach their first victory of the day, with a 6-4 win. They captured third place in the flight one bracket against Hayashida-Mehra of Iowa. Also, in doubles play, Rhona Cook and Justine Dondonay fell short in their match against Petchey-Mould, with a score of 6-0.
In singles play, Cook garnered Long Beach State's second victory of the day. She defeated Ares Teixido of Oregon in a tightly contested match, winning 7-6, 6-3.
Continuing with singles action, the Beach displayed high energy and grit. Sarah Medik battled in a three-set thriller and obtained the first set of the match. Unfortunately, just fell short against Marisa Schmidt of Iowa, with a score of 6-7, 6-1, 7-6.
LBSU has battled high during the Fall season. The team will continue to trust their progression and will continue to stay together as a unit.
Beach Tennis will be back in action in the spring with the Beach Winter Invitational scheduled for January 20-22, 2023.
