Dirtbag Alum, Jeff McNeil, Earns Silver Slugger Award

The 2012 draftee was awarded his first career Silver Slugger Award after claiming the MLB Batting Crown this year.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Former Dirtbags utility man, Jeff McNeil, has been awarded the National League Second Baseman's Silver Slugger Award. It is the first time in his major league career he has garnered the award.
McNeil was also the 2022 MLB Batting Champion with his league-leading .326 batting average becoming the first ever Dirtbag alum to win the crown.
In his fifth year in the big leagues, he led the 101-win Mets with a .382 on-base percentage, 174 hits, and 39 doubles on their way to a National League Division Series appearance.
The 2010-12 Dirtbag alum also made his second All-Star Game appearance this past July, making him the fifth alumni to earn multiple ASG selections. It was his first career start in the Midsummer Classic followed by his postseason debut to close out the year.
