Dirtbag Alum, Jeff McNeil, Set for Postseason Baseball

Fresh off winning the 2022 MLB Batting Title, McNeil will make his MLB postseason debut tonight.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Former Dirtbag, Jeff McNeil, is set for postseason action this weekend as he and the New York Mets will host the San Diego Padres in the Wild Card series. Friday night's game will be McNeil's postseason debut.
McNeil had a tremendous 2022 campaign, posting a .326 average in 148 games played on his way to becoming the first ever Dirtbag alum to win the MLB batting title. In his fifth year in the big leagues, he also led the 101-win Mets in on-base percentage (.382), hits (174), and doubles (39) setting career-highs in each category.
A well-known utility man, he totaled 106 games at second base, 34 in left, 13 in right, four as the designated hitter, and even one at third base. Excelling at all four positions, he made just five errors with seven Defensive Runs Saved for the year.
In addition to the batting title, he was named to his second All-Star Game appearance this season making him the fifth Dirtbag alum to have multiple All-Star selections, joining Jason Giambi, Jered Weaver, Troy Tulowitzki, and Evan Longoria. It was the 21st time a former LBSU baseball player has been selected overall.
McNeil and the Mets begin their postseason run tonight against the Padres at 5:07 p.m. PT. The game will be broadcasted on ESPN.
