LBSU garnered two victories on the final day of tournament action.
SAN DIEGO, Calif. - LBSU Tennis wrapped up play at the ITA Southwest Regionals at the Barnes Tennis Center on Saturday, obtaining two victories in singles and doubles action.
The Beach began the day with a victory in doubles action. Sheena Masuda and Rhona Cook defeated Kelly Leung and Gabriella Pachl of UCSD, with a score of 8-2. After falling short in their double's matchup this past Thursday, Masuda and Cook garnered back-to-back victories in the final two days of tournament competition.
In singles action, Sarah Medik dominated her flight against Katelyn Vu of UCSD in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0. Medik has now bounced back with two victories in singles play since Friday's competition.
Continuing with singles action, Sheena Masuda had a nail-biting flight against Grace Gamal of UCSD. Both athletes fought back and forth, but unfortunately, Masuda just fell short, with a score of 7-6, 7-6.
Head Coach Hilt-Costello acknowledged it was a tough weekend for the team. However, it is these moments that push the team to consistently improve and stay together as a unit. This group of athletes trust each other, and they trust in their process of progression.
It was a tough weekend of competition for us," said Head Coach Jenny Hilt-Costello. "Now we work towards a strong finish at our final tournament in Las Vegas."
The team looks forward to getting back to Rhodes Tennis Center and remain optimistic as they will prepare for their final tournament.
The Beach will be back on the court in three weeks at the UNLV Fall Tournament on November 11-13.
