LBSU obtained a 5-2 record in singles action at Barnes Tennis Center.

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - LBSU Tennis continued play at the ITA Southwest Regionals at the Barnes Tennis Center on Friday, with five athletes earning singles match victories.

To start the day, doubles action concluded with three duos just falling short to advance to round 16. All three duos competed at a high level and displayed immense desire to win. Since the beginning of the season the Beach have consistently improved with six fresh faces. Cohesion, patience, and trusting their process is vital to their success. Head Coach Hilt-Costello has preached that to her team all season. The process of improving each day is what she is seeking, and she will continue to elevate her athletes and make progression to be a cohesive team.

The Beach had seven athletes competing in consolation matches instead of eight due to Ramstedt suffering a sore ankle in yesterday's singles match. She continued to compete in doubles action, however, Ramstedt will be out of singles play until further notice.

In the consolation matches, the Beach ended the day going 5-2 in singles matches and obtaining one solo victory in doubles action. Tranberg came out strong and defeated Anali Kocevar of GCU, with a score of 6-3, 6-3. Becirovic Novak earned a bounce-back win in two straight sets, winning 6-2, 6-4. Dondonay also won her match in a highly competitive straight set, defeating Anna Kern of Hawaii, 7-6, 6-3. Medik continued the trend, obtaining the better of Victoria Santibanez Luna of CSUN, winning 6-4, 6-0 while Masuda obtained her victory against Belen Nevenhoven of Arizona.

Lastly, in doubles action, Masuda/Cook defeated Haily Huynh/Nour Khayat of UCI, with a score of 8-4.

The ITA Southwest Regionals will continue Saturday with doubles play beginning at 9 a.m. and singles play continuing shortly after that.
