
Ian Gilligan Wins The Mackenzie Invitational

The sophomore has now won two-consecutive tournaments to lead the Beach

SONOMA, Calif. – Ian Gilligan captured his second-consecutive individual title with a victory at the Mackenzie Invitational shooting 7-under par on Tuesday at the Sonoma Golf Club to bring his final score to 201 for 15-under.
After an impressive first 36 holes, Gilligan's final round 65 solidified his spot on the top of the leaderboard after shooting 7-under on the final day of the tournament as he finished five strokes ahead of the second place finisher.
In the final round, Gilligan turned in a bogey-free performance, including three birdies on the front nine, as well as two birdies and an eagle on the back nine.
Although Gilligan is the first-place individual medalist overall, Long Beach State finishes tied for fifth place with Harvard at 4-under, while host Cal won with 21-under for the tournament.
Senior Isaac Rodea was LBSU's second finisher with a 3-over par showing as he shot 73-71-75 for the tournament to place in a tie for 27th.
Freshman Krishnav Nikhil Chopraa tied for 36th place after rounding out his outing by shooting 3-under (69) in his final round with an eagle in his back nine for 5-over for the tournament. Also in 36th place tied with Chopraa was freshman Jack Cantlay, who finished his third round at even par.
Rounding out the was freshman Jaden Huggins who finished tied for 53rd place at 2-over par.
Next up for the Beach is the Cal Poly Invitational on October 31st and November 1st in Carmel Valley, Calif. Beach fans can follow on GolfStat.com.
