Ian Gilligan Stands Alone in First Place After Two Rounds at The Mackenzie Invitational

Gilligan leads the Beach with an 8-under par performance as LBSU is in sixth place overall

SONOMA, Calif. – Ian Gilligan sits on top of the leaderboard at 8-under after two strong rounds at the Mackenzie Invitational. Long Beach State is currently in sixth place after shooting 4-over par.

Gilligan had a solid first round showing shooting 2-under par and heading into the second round tied for eighth place. The second round saw Gilligan register six birdies as the sophomore went bogey-free to move up seven spots and into first place.

Despite Gilligan's second round run, Long Beach sits in sixth place while trailing first by 14 strokes. Harvard leads the tournament at 10-under par, followed by host Cal in second (-9). Minnesota and San Jose State are tied for third (-8).

Senior Isaac Rodea remained consistent to start the season and finished even after two rounds to put him at a tie for 18th place.

Rounding out the rest of the Beach are freshman Jack Cantlay, who finished the day at 5-over par and is tied for 41st, while freshman Krishnav Nikhil Chopraa and freshman Jaden Huggins are 8-over par.
