Beach Tennis Finishes Strong on Final Day at Beach Tennis Winter Invite

Long Beach competes against Portland, CSUN on final day of the Beach Tennis Winter Invite
LONG BEACH, Calif. - Going into the last day of the Beach Tennis Winter Invite, the Long Beach State women's tennis team proved they came to battle against their opponents, Portland and CSUN.
In the doubles matches against Portland, the Beach endured three tough losses on courts 1, 3, and 7, respectively. Claire Le Du and Peppi Ramstedt prevailed on court 5 against Neli Sunjic and Marija Elenova with a score of 6-1. All matches came close in scoring and showed the determination the young Beach team has to come out on top.
In the singles competition against CSUN, Arina Babkova beat out Sasha Turchak in two sets, 6-4 and 6-2. Sheena Masuda was also victorious against Jolene Coetzee, beating her in three sets with scores of 4-6, 7-6, and 6-0.
"It was a great weekend for the team," stated Senior Zara Lennon. "It was a battle, but we did great. It gives us more confidence going into our next game against Loyola Marymount."
Head coach Jenny Hilt-Costello shared her thoughts on how the tournament went overall. "It was a very good first weekend of tennis for us. We won some and we lost some, but battled in every match. There is a lot to build on moving forward and we are excited for our first dual match against Loyola Marymount!"
Long Beach State will host Loyola Marymount on Friday, January 28, at 2 pm at Rhodes Tennis Center. Live Scoring of the match will be available on BeachLiveStats.com
