Beach Tennis Continues Fight at Beach Tennis Winter Invite

Long Beach continues their tournament against Boise State, Portland
Long Beach, Calif. - The Long Beach women's tennis team kicked off their second day of the Beach Tennis Winter Invite today showing their endurance and determination against Boise State and Portland.
Long Beach State began their day with doubles against Boise State. During the doubles matches, Claire Le Du and Zuzanna Szczepanska defeated Pauline Ernstberger and Ana Conde Vendrell while Zara Lennon and Andreea Ciornei conquered Bhakti Shah and Corey Patton Lossner on courts 5 and 7, taking home the win for Long Beach State with scores 6-4 and 6-2. Although it was a close call, Nikola Homolkova and Sheena Masuda lost against Joana Baptista and Nicole Discenza with Peppi Ramstedt and Arina Babkova losing against Holly Stewart and Shauna Heffernan on courts 1 and 3 with close scores of 5-7 and 4-7, respectively.
"Today was another successful day of competition for our team. We took advantage of what we learned from yesterday's matches," stated sophomore Nikola Homolkova. "Each of us were battling until the end, and we managed to win 5 out of 8 singles matches. We are excited for tomorrow to give our best in the last day of the Beach Tennis Winter Invite."
Head coach Jenny Hilt-Costello continues to show her support for the team. "It was another strong showing from our young team today," Hilt-Costello stated. "We continue to build and get better with each match."
Long Beach State will finish the tournament Sunday, January 23 at 11 am at the Rhodes Tennis Center. Live scoring of the match will be available on BeachLiveStats.com
