Devereaux Harrison has been invited to play with the USA Collegiate National Team this summer.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Devereaux Harrison has been invited to join the 2021 USA Baseball Collegiate National Team this summer. He is the twelfth Dirtbag overall and first since 2016 to play for the Collegiate National Team.
The freshman right-hander had an outstanding season that has earned him ABCA Freshman All-American First Team honors, NCBWA West All-Region Second Team honors, and the Big West Freshman Pitcher of the Year.
Harrison tossed 34.1 innings posting a 1.57 ERA and holding opponents to a .175 opponent average. He totaled 18 appearances, recording multiple strikeouts in 14 of them totaling 42 Ks while surrendering just 12 walks. He was also one of just 23 relievers in the nation to notch double-digit saves finishing the year with 10.
His 1.57 season ERA is the lowest by any Long Beach State pitcher since 2016 and lowest by a freshman hurler since 1998.
The USA Baseball Collegiate National Team will feature 48 players in 2021, split into two teams, the Stars and Stripes. The two teams will go head-to-head in 11 games beginning on July 2. Ten of the team's 11 games will be played in the cities of the Appalachian League, which is in its first season as a summer collegiate league as part of MLB and USA Baseball's Prospect Development Pipeline.
The Collegiate National Team will also play a game at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, North Carolina, on July 4, at 1:30 p.m. EDT. The game will be streamed on USABaseball.com and on USA Baseball's Facebook and YouTube channels.
