Long Beach State Continues to Lead the Way After Two Rounds at the Big West Men’s Golf Championships

Hunter Epson is tied for second place with a 2-under par
LA QUINTA, Calif. – After 36 holes at the 2021 Big West Men's Golf Championships, Long Beach State continues to set the pace as the Beach are in first place with 6-under par at the La Quinta Country Club.
The Beach shaved four strokes off of their game from a day ago as the windy conditions died down. Long Beach State is at the top of the leaderboard and 10 strokes ahead of UC Davis, which is in second place with a 4-over par. Meanwhile, Cal State Fullerton rounds out the top three with a 6-over par after improving by 18 strokes on day two.
Individually, Hunter Epson sits in second place, tied with two others, with a 2-under par as he is five strokes out of first as UC Davis' Lucas Carper leads the way with a 7-under. Epson shot a 71 both in the first and second rounds.
Close on Epson's heels are teammates Isaac Rodea and Clay Seeber. The pair are both tied for fifth with 1-under par after shooting even par in the second round of action.
As a team, Long Beach State's five players all finished in the top 12 after two rounds. Hunter Reed turned in a 71 in the second round to shave three strokes off his round one score, while Tyler Schafer shot a 69 as he improved his round one score by eight strokes.
Long Beach State will look to clinch its first Big West Men's Golf Championships since 2004. The Beach will tee off in the final round on Tuesday, May 4 at 8:50 a.m.
