Epson, Seeber, and Rodea tied for second with 1-under par after 18 holes

LA QUINTA, Calif. – Following a windy first round on the green at the La Quinta Country Club for the opening round of the 2021 Big West Men's Golf Championships, Long Beach State is at the top of the leaderboard. The LBSU men's golf team turned in a solid performance as the Beach led the way with a 1-under par and are nine strokes ahead of Cal Poly and UC Davis which are tied for second.
The Beach have a trio tied for second place with 1-under par in Hunter Epson, Clay Seeber, and Isaac Rodea. All three shot a 71 in the first round as Rodea sunk half a dozen birdies, but countered that with five bogies. Seeber finished the round with five birdies, while Epson tallied three.
The three are each just one stroke out of first place as Lucas Carper of UC Davis leads the way with a 70 for 2-under par.
Long Beach State's strong start saw all five of Beach players finish in the top 25, as Hunter Reed is tied for 10th with 2-over, while Tyler Schafer is tied for 25th with 5-over.
The Beach will tee off on Monday, May 3 at 12:10 p.m., in the second round at the Big West Championships. Fans can follow all of the action via GolfStat.com.
