No. 17 Beach Falls in Both Matches on Sunday

No. 17 ranked LBSU lost both matches of their tri-dual on Sunday, falling 3-2 to No. 9 Pepperdine and 5-0 to No. 3 USC.
MALIBU, Calif. – No. 17 ranked Long Beach State (2-4) had a tough day on Sunday, falling 3-2 to No. 9 Pepperdine and 5-0 to No. 3 USC at the Pepperdine Invite.
Against the host Waves, Skyler Germann and Alice Pratesi continued their impressive start to the season, bouncing back from a first set loss to give the Beach their first point. The duo of Emily Mattoon and Jillian Rodriguez picked up the second point for LBSU with a straight-set victory. Unfortunately, Pepperdine would come out on top and take the dual.
Long Beach State was swept for the first time this season as USC took it 5-0 in the second match of the day winning all but one set.
The pair of Germann/Pratesi suffered their first dual loss of the season against USC after taking five straight duals to begin the 2021 season.
The Beach is back in action next weekend for a tri-dual on the campus of USC on Saturday, March 13. They will have a pair of rematches against No. 7 Loyola Marymount and the No. 3 ranked Trojans.
