Long Beach State Takes Second at Sacramento State Intercollegiate

Clay Seeber leads the way with a second place finish, while Hunter Epson comes in third

ELK GROVE, Calif. – The Long Beach State men's golf team turned in their best performance of the season thus far as the Beach finished second at the Sacramento State Intercollegiate after shooting an impressive 22-under par to come in two stroke shy of first.
Loyola Marymount won the tournament with a 24-under par, while Pacific claimed third with 2-under. Santa Clara (+2) and Oakland (+10) rounded out the top five finishers in the competition.
The Beach were led by Clay Seeber who finished second and led a trio of LBSU players who finished in the top 10. Seeber shot 66-68-72 to finish 10-under par, just two strokes shy of winning the tournament, as he placed behind Riley Lewis of LMU who finished 12-under par (64-72-69)
Coming in just behind him was Hunter Epson who fired a 72-67-68 to finish 9-under par and in a tie for third.
Isaac Rodea turned in a solid showing as well as he shot 74-67-70 for 5-under par to place in a tie for sixth place rounding out the Beach top three.
As a team, Long Beach State shot 285-274-283. The Beach's 274 in the second round ties the program's best second-round score in school history. The last time LBSU men's golf shot a 274 in the second round was on Sept. 11, 2018 at the Itani Quality Homes Collegiate at the Palouse Ridge Golf Course in Pullman, Wash.
The Beach will be back in action at the Bandon Dunes Championship in Bandon, Ore. The tournament, which is hosted by Idaho, will begin on Sunday, March 7 and conclude on Tuesday, March 9.
