Team captain, Brianna Uipi, had a solid day finishing in second for the women's discus throw with a 42.58 mark.
"I'm happy so see us open (the season) with some good marks and consistent performances from the throwers," said Throws Coach Cory Loebl. "It's been a long wait for them and they are very hungry for competition. We set some very high goals within this group and what took place today is just the first step toward reaching them."
The rest of the team will finish out the Trojan Invitational tomorrow at the Cromwell Field & Loker Track Stadium on the campus of USC. The day's events will be live streamed to the PAC-12 website, which can be found HERE.
