Long Beach State Tied for First in 2022 Big West Men’s Volleyball Coaches’ Poll

The Beach garnered three first-place votes to tie with Hawaii as the preseason favorite
IRVINE, Calif. – The Big West announced the 2022 Men's Volleyball Coaches' Poll on Monday morning and Long Beach State was chosen as the preseason favorite, along with Hawaii.
The Beach and the Bows each garnered three first-place votes for a total of 21 points to tie for first place. UC San Diego was chosen third with 19 points, while UC Irvine and UC Santa Barbara each collected 11 points as they tied for fourth place. Rounding out the poll in sixth was CSUN with seven points.
Just last week, the Beach were picked fourth in the NVA/AVCA Preseason Men's Division I-II Coaches' Poll. Five of six Big West schools appeared in the Top 15 as Hawaii came in at No. 1, while UC San Diego, UC Santa Barbara, and UC Irvine are ranked 10th, 11th, and 12th, respectively.
LBSU returns a talented squad led by AVCA All-Americans Mason Briggs and Spencer Olivier. Additionally, the Beach boasts the top recruiting class in the country for the second year in a row.
Long Beach State will open the 2022 season at McMaster in Ontario, Canada, on Thursday, Jan. 6. The Beach's home opener is set for Wednesday, Jan. 13 against Erksine at 7 p.m. at the Walter Pyramid.
