Gajek’s dominant two-match performance was highlighted by 24 kills, .486 hitting and eight service aces
LONG BEACH, Calif. -- Long Beach State freshman opposite Wojciech Gajek has been named Big West Freshman of the Week after leading the Beach to a 2-0 sweep of CUI.
Gajek delivered a dominant all-around performance across seven sets, totaling 24 kills while hitting .486 (24-7-35) and averaging 3.43 kills per set. He also averaged a team-best 4.79 points per set, adding eight service aces, five digs, and three total blocks in the pair of victories.
In the 3-1 road win, Gajek recorded 12 kills and exploded for eight service aces, applying consistent service pressure that disrupted CUI's offensive rhythm. He followed with another 12-kill performance in the 3-0 home sweep, hitting an exceptional .786 (12-1-14) while committing just one error on 14 swings. His efficiency in the finale helped Long Beach State post a .530 team attack percentage in the match.
Across the two contests, Gajek accounted for 33.5 total points and played a central role in the Beach hitting .428 as a team while averaging 12.43 kills per set. His production came in all phases, scoring in transition, terminating in-system opportunities, and generating points from the service line.
