LONG BEACH, Calif. – No. 2 Long Beach State delivered one of its most efficient performances of the season Saturday night, sweeping CUI 25-17, 25-23, 25-21 at the LBS Financial Credit Union Pyramid to move to 11-2 overall. The Beach hit a blistering .530 as a team with 43 kills on just 66 swings and controlled the match at the net with a 9.0 to 3.0 blocking edge, showcasing both offensive firepower and depth across the lineup.
The opening set established the tone immediately. After a 1-1 start, Long Beach State ripped off a 5-0 run behind aggressive serving from Jackson Cryst and clean transition execution from Jake Pazanti and Wojciech Gajek. In system, the Beach were nearly automatic, hitting .520 in the frame and siding out at 70 percent. Gajek and Connor Bloom terminated at a high clip from both pins, and the Beach closed comfortably at 25-17.
CUI made a push in the second, capitalizing on a couple of late service runs to cut the margin to 23-21. But the Beach responded with poise. Pazanti spread the offense efficiently, and Bloom continued to score in rhythm as Long Beach State hit .650 in the set. Even as CUI closed to 24-23, the Beach stayed steady in serve receive and sided out to take it 25-23.
The third set featured CUI's best offensive stretch, trimming the score to 19-18 behind steady production from Logan Whitaker and Christian Galoppo. Once again, Long Beach State answered decisively. A clutch service ace from Cryst halted the momentum, and the Beach closed on a composed run to finish 25-21.
Gajek led the way with 12 kills on .786 hitting, Bloom added 10 on .625, and Myles Jordan contributed six kills while being a key component of the block. With multiple contributors scoring efficiently and key reserves stepping in seamlessly throughout the match, Long Beach State not only overwhelmed CUI with its efficiency but also flexed its depth in a resounding straight set victory.
