Long Beach State Men’s Golf Concludes the Fall Season at the St. Mary’s Invitational

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – The Long Beach State men's golf team wrapped up the fall season at the St, Mary's Invitational which was played at Poppy Hills Golf Club in Pebble Beach, Calif. The Beach were led by freshman Ian Gilligan who finished with a 1-under par showing as he tied for 17th place.
As a team, LBSU managed to shave three strokes off of its game from the second to the third round to hold steady in a tie for 15th place with Fresno State as both the Beach and the Bulldogs finished 20-over par.
Oregon was the winner of the St. Mary's Invitational as the Ducks finished 19-under par to move from second place to first in the final round, while No. 6 Stanford dropped into second with 17-under par. San Francisco rounded out the top three as the Dons posted a 13-under par showing in the tournament.
Gilligan improved on his second round score in the final round as he shot a 70 for 1-under par en route to finishing in a tie for 17th with 1-under.
The rest of the Beach squad finished 6-over par or higher while playing at the competitive course.
Long Beach State will open the spring season on Thursday, Feb. 17 at the John Burns Intercollegiate in Lihue, Hawaii.
