Women's Volleyball Travels to CSU Bakersfield, Cal Poly
The Long Beach State women's volleyball team will be headed to central California this weekend as the Beach take on CSU Bakersfield and Cal Poly on Friday and Saturday, respectively. The Beach and the Roadrunners will face off on Friday, Oct. 29 at 5 p.m. at the Icardo Center in Bakersfield, before LBSU takes on Cal Poly on Saturday, Oct. 30 at 7 p.m. a the Mott Athletic Center in San Luis Obispo.

About the Beach
• Long Beach State is looking to snap a three-match losing skid after having dropped matches to UC Irvine (3-2), UC Riverside (3-2), and UC Davis (3-0).
• The Beach are 9-12 overall and 3-7 in Big West action. When playing on the road this season, LBSU is just 1-5 with the lone win coming at CSUN (3-1) on Oct. 9.
Kashauna Williams continues her hot hitting as she now owns 1,057 career kills to rank 15th in Long Beach State program history. Williams is averaging 4.15 kills per set this season, which leads the Big West and ranks 31st in the nation. 
• Freshman outside hitter Erykah Lovett has turned in an outstanding rookie season as she is second on the team with 2.76 kills per set, while her 0.38 aces per set rank her third in the Big West. On the year, she is averaging 2.74 digs per set, 0.31 assists per set, and 0.23 blocks per set.
• Sophomore Katie Kennedy has settled in on the right side and is third on the team with 2.36 kills per set on a .215 hitting percentage. The Hood River, Ore., native also contributes 0.84 digs per set and 0.47 blocks per set.
• Senior Miranda Canez continues to lead the Beach in hitting with a .316 attack percentage which is good for sixth in the Big West. Additionally, she is second on the squad with 0.69 blocks per set, while also contributing 1.49 kills per set.
• At setter, Long Beach State has utilized both sophomore Tia Chavira and freshman Kasia Partyka this season. Chavira leads the way with 8.67 assists per set, while Partyka adds 7.97 assists per set.
• Chavira also contributes 2.56 digs per set, 1.04 kills per set, 0.35 blocks per set, and 0.27 aces per set, while hitting .304 on the year.
• Sophomore libero Nicole Hoff has been stout in the back row for the Beach having racked up a total of 298 digs for an average of 3.73 digs per set to rank in the top 10 in the Big West Conference. She also has led the Beach in digs 12 times and has registered double-digit digs in 18 contests.
• At the net freshman middle blocker Kameron Bacon has collected 67 total blocks (6 solo, 61 assists) to lead the team with 0.89 blocks. She also contributes 1.08 kills per set on the offensive end.
• Off the bench, Dylan Dela Cruz and Jenna Giambi have been productive for the Beach in the back row contributing 2.14 digs per set and 2.02 digs per set, respectively. Meanwhile, senior outside hitter Avery Nelson has contributed 1.29 kills per set and 1.02 digs per set for LBSU.

Scouting CSU Bakersfield
• CSU Bakersfield improved to 12-6 overall and 5-5 in Big West Conference action after going 2-0 last weekend with victories over UC Irvine (3-2) and UC San Diego (3-0). 
• When playing at the Icardo Center, the Roadrunners are 2-2 this season.
• As a team, CSU Bakersfield is hitting .205 on the year and averaging 12.35 kills per set on 10.91 assists per set.
• On the defensive end, the Runners are averaging 15.09 digs per set and 2.25 blocks per set.
• Offensively, the Runners are led by Hayley McCluskey and Milica Vikobrat who average 2.78 and 2.63 kills per set, respectively. The pair also contribute 1.58 and 2.04 digs per set, respectively, while Vukobrat leads the squad with 20 aces on the year.
• Seleisa Elisaia is the team's setter as she has distributed 9.03 assists per set to go along with 3.00 digs per set, 1.42 kills per set, and 0.94 blocks per set.
• Defensively, Paige Calvin paces the back row with 3.75 digs per set, while Brooke Boiseau and Hana Makonova lead the Runners at the net with 0.96 blocks per set each.

The Series: The Beach vs. The Roadrunners
Long Beach State and CSU Bakersfield will meet for the fifth time in program history and for the second time this season. In the all-time series, LBSU leads 3-1. In the teams' meeting earlier this season, the Roadrunners defeated the Beach in four sets at the Walter Pyramid.

Scouting Cal Poly
• Cal Poly split a pair of matches last week with a win over UC San Diego (3-2) and a loss against UC Irvine (3-0) to bring the Mustangs' overall record to 9-12, while posting a 7-3 Big West Conference ledger.
• The Mustangs are hitting .218 as a team on 12.61 kills per set and 11.58 assists per set. Defensively, the team averages 14.69 digs per set and 2.11 blocks per set.
• Jamie Stivers is the team leader with 3.48 kills per set, while Tommi Stockham adds 3.03 kills per set. The duo of Stivers and Stockham also averages 2.86 and 1.00 digs per set, respectively.
• Avalon DeNecochea is the Mustangs' setter as she averages 9.95 assists per set to go along with 1.72 digs per set, 0.65 blocks per set, and 0.64 kills per set.
• In the back row, Peyton Dueck leads the way with 4.15 digs per set.
• At the net, Meredith Phillips has posted a whopping 1.08 blocks per set to lead the team.

The Series: The Beach vs. The Mustangs
Long Beach State and Cal Poly will face off for the 72nd time in program history. The Beach leads the all-time series 46-25, however, the Mustangs were victorious over LBSU in the last meeting. Earlier this season, Cal Poly defeated Long Beach State, 3-0, on Sept. 24 at the Walter Pyramid. 

A Grand Time
Long Beach State junior outside hitter Kashauna Williams joined elite company as she became the 17th player in program history to reach 1,000 career kills. Williams now has 1,057 career kills and ranks 15th all-time at the Beach. Williams is 25 kills away from 14th place all-time as she now ranks among Long Beach State legends Tara Cross, Danielle Scott, and Tayyiba Haneef.

You Gotta Lovett
Freshman outside hitter Erykah Lovett has been having a very solid rookie season. The Newnan, Ga., native is second on the squad with 2.76 kills per set. Additionally, Lovett is third in the Big West in aces per set with 0.38 after serving up a total of 30 this season so far. Lovett contributes on both sides of the ball as she adds 2.84 digs per set and 0.23 blocks per set.

Can You Dig It?
Sophomore libero Nicole Hoff has been solid in the back row for the Beach racking up 298 digs to average 3.73 digs per set which ranks her in the top 10 in the Big West. Hoff has led Long Beach State in digs in 12 matches and has recorded double-digit digs in 18 contests this season. Joining Hoff in solid defensive performances this are junior Dylan Dela Cruz (2.14 digs per set), sophomore Tia Chavira (2.56 digs per set), and freshman Jenna Giambi (2.03 digs per set).

Helping Hands
Long Beach State has platooned both freshman Kasia Partyka and sophomore Tia Chavira at setter this season. Chavira leads the way with 8.67 assists per set, while Partyka adds 7.97 assists per set. The duo have piloted the Beach to a .220 attack percentage as the team averages 11.79 assists per set. 

Block Party
Freshman middle blocker Kameron Bacon continues to set the standard for the Beach at the net. The product out of Fontana, Calif., leads Long Beach State with 67 total blocks (6 solo, 61 block assists) to average 0.89 blocks per set. She recorded a career-high eight blocks against Cal State Fullerton on September 28. Coming in behind Bacon is senior middle blocker Miranda Canez who has recorded 55 total blocks (5 solo, 50 block assists) to average 0.69 blocks per set.

Kashing In
Junior outside hitter Kashauna Williams leads the Beach and the Big West with 4.15 kills per set, an average which ranks her 31st in the nation. Additionally, Williams contributes 1.00 digs per set and 0.52 blocks per set, while hitting .232. She has led the Beach in kills on 18 occasions, has recorded 18 double-digit kill performances, and has logged six 20-plus kill showings this season. 

Kennedy Kills It
Sophomore outside hitter/opposite Katie Kennedy has been killing it as of late. The Hood River, Ore., native has earned the start on the right side in the last 12 matches and is now third on the squad with 2.36 kills per set. In addition, Kennedy also owns a 0.84 digs per set average to go along with 0.47 blocks per set. 

Double-Double Toil And Trouble
Long Beach State has had several solid performances this season including 17 double-doubles by five different players in 19 matches. Leading the way is freshman Erykah Lovett who has logged eight double-doubles in her rookie season. Sophomore Tia Chavira has posted five double-doubles this season, while Kashauna Williams has recorded two. Lastly, Nicole Hoff and Kasia Partyka each have tallied one double-double so far.

Next Up
Long Beach State will take on Cal State Fullerton at Titan Gym on Thursday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m., before returning home to the Walter Pyramid to host Hawaii on Saturday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. Both matches will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
