LONG BEACH, Calif. –
The Long Beach State women's volleyball dropped a 3-0 [17-25, 23-25, 19-25] contest to visiting UC Davis Saturday night at the Walter Pyramid.

The Beach (9-12, 3-7 Big West) mustered just a .125 attack percentage as they dropped their third-straight contest. Meanwhile UC Davis (7-14, 3-7 Big West) hit .261 and capitalized on the serve and pass game to defeat Long Beach State.

UC Davis opened the match with a quick 4-1 lead in the first set. However, Long Beach State battled back to even the score at 5-5 on a kill by Miranda Canez, before the Aggies used a 3-0 run to take an 8-5 lead. From there, Davis led the rest of the way opening up an 18-10 lead before taking the first set, 25-17.

Long Beach State kicked off the second set on a 4-0 run, but UC Davis was quick to counter with a 4-0 run of its own as the two teams found themselves deadlocked at 4-4. Following a 6-6 tie, the Aggies strung together three-straight points to take a lead they would hold for the remainder of the set. The Beach stayed in the game as they used a pair of 4-0 runs to cut the Aggies lead down to one (24-23). But UC Davis managed to come away with the 25-23 victory.

As the Aggies led the Beach two sets to none, UC Davis opened the third set on a 4-1 run and led the rest of the way. Davis held a five-point lead (15-10) at the media timeout, and extended its lead to eight points (20-12), before winning the set and match, 25-19.

Kashauna Williams led Long Beach State with 10 kills, while Katie Kennedy added eight and Canez posted seven. Freshman Kameron Bacon hit .714 in the contest as she knocked down five kills on seven errorless swings.

Freshman setter Kasia Partyka distributed 23 assists, while Nicole Hoff and Dylan Dela Cruz led the back row with 11 and 10 digs, respectively.

UC Davis' Amara Aimufua finished the match with 11 kills to go along with nine digs, while Jane Seslar and Casi Newman split setter duties with 17 and 15 assists, respectively. Newman and Olivia Utterback each served up a pair aces, and Utterback led the defense with 14 digs. At the net, Lana Radakovic led the team with seven blocks (2 solos, 5 assists), while Josephine Ough contributed five (1 solo, 4 assists).

Long Beach State will return to action on Friday, Oct. 29 at CSU Bakersfield. First serve is scheduled for 5 p.m.
