The Beach went on the road and defeated the Runners, 1-0, on Sunday night.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Long Beach State (8-5-2, 5-1-1 BWC) picked up their second clean sheet of the week, taking down CSU Bakersfield (1-12-2, 0-5-1 BWC) by the score of 1-0 on Sunday night. Lena Silano scored the game-winner in the final minute of the second overtime period.

For the game, the Beach outshot the Runners 16-6 thanks to a dominant second half on the defensive side of the ball.

At halftime, Long Beach State trailed in shots 5-2 before turning things around to take 11 shots over the final 65 minutes compared to just one from Bakersfield.

Kaylee Ramirez had a phenomenal look to win it at the end of regulation in the 89th minute. After Silano was fouled just outside the eighteen, the senior defender lined up on the ball with Daria Petredes. Petredes faked and Ramirez took a shot with her left at the near post, but a diving save from the CSUB keeper sent the game into overtime.

After 19 more minutes of scoreless play in the two overtime periods, Kayla Cannon sent in a cross from the corner with a minute left on the clock. The Roadrunner defender attempted to head it out, but the weak hit landed right in front of Silano. The junior's first shot attempt was blocked, but the second snuck in past the keeper for the game-winner.

Silano continues to climb the all-time leaderboards, registering her eleventh goal of the year putting her in a tie for fifth most in Long Beach State single-season history. It also marks her sixth game-winner of the year, which is tied for second most in program history.

Zora Standifer started in net for the Beach, notching her second career shutout. Both of her shutouts this season have been double overtime efforts. The freshman also registered two saves on the night, giving her 12 on the year.

With just 29 seconds left on the clock in double OT, it marks the latest goal (109:31) for Long Beach State in the Ingrassia era.

Long Beach State is back at it on Thursday of next week as they head to Northridge for a matchup with CSUN.
