Long Beach State Rolls to a 69-50 Victory Over Cal State Fullerton

Ma’Qhi Berry led LBSU with 19 points, while Kristyna Jeskeova notched a double-double

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State women's basketball won its fifth-straight contest with a 69-50 victory over Cal State Fullerton to remain undefeated in Big West Conference action.
The Beach (6-1, 5-0 Big West) had three double-figure scorers led by Ma'Qhi Berry's season-high 19, while Kristyna Jeskeova notched her first double-double of her career with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Long Beach State took a quick 6-0 lead on back-to-back threes by Berry and Justina King to open the game and never looked back. The Beach led the Titans (0-6, 0-3 Big West) throughout the game as they shot 42.4 percent from the field and 40.9 percent from long distance.
The Titans held the lead in rebounding (42-39), but it was no match for the Beach's solid play on both sides of the ball. Long Beach State led by as many as 26 points (59-33) in the game and forced Cal State Fullerton into 22 turnovers. From there, the Beach tallied 26 points off Titan turnovers as Long Beach State sat in the driver's seat throughout the entire game before earning a 19-point victory.
Berry led all scorers with 19 points, while adding six rebounds, four assists, and one steal. She connected on 7-of-13 field goals to set a new season-best for made field goals this season. Berry was on-point throughout the game going 3-for-4 from three-point range and 2-for-3 from the line. Her four assists were also tops on the Beach.

King finished the game with 13 points, while Jeskeova added 11. Jeskeova also added 10 rebounds to record her first-career double-double. In addition, she added three steals and two assists. King, meanwhile, led the way with five steals to contribute to Long Beach State's 17 total steals in the game.

Despite falling behind early, Cal State Fullerton finished the game with a pair of double-digit scorers in Anniken Frey (13 points) and Amiee Book (10 points). Carolyn Gill and Joy Krupa led the Titans in rebounding with 12 and 11 boards, respectively.
The Big West Conference foes will be back in action on Saturday, Jan. 9 at 4 p.m., inside the Walter Pyramid. The game will be broadcast on ESPN3.
