Luis Ramirez Named Freshman All-American By Collegiate Baseball

Ramirez is the first Dirtbag to be named a Freshman All-American since 2015.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Freshman Luis Ramirez earned national recognition for an auspicious start to his career, being selected by Collegiate Baseball to their Freshman All-American team.
Ramirez was one of 19 starting pitchers nationwide chosen for the honor by the oldest continually running collegiate baseball publication, and just one of four from western programs.
The freshman from Commerce, Calif. was in the midst of a stellar freshman campaign. Making four starts on the mound, Ramirez had a 2-0 record with a 2.73 ERA, and had recorded 27 strikeouts in 26.1 innings pitched.
One of two Big West players selected, Ramirez had his most impressive start against Wake Forest, striking out 12 over 7.0 innings in a win, and also picked up a win in a seven-inning outing against Mississippi State, while both teams were ranked at the time.
Ramirez is the first Dirtbag chosen for Freshman All-America honors since Chris Matheson in 2015, and the first recognized by Collegiate Baseball since Garrett Hampson in 2014.
