Men’s Golf Tied For Eighth After First Round at John A. Burn Intercollegiate

Epson, Seeber tied for 10th after shooting one-under in the opening round

LIHUE, Kauai – After the first round at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate, Long Beach State is tied for eighth place as the Beach are shooting 5-over par after the first 18 holes at Wailua Golf Course.
The challenging course only has two of the 21 teams shooting under par as UNC Wilmington and BYU are tied for first with 1-under par, while Texas A&M is in third even with par. Meanwhile, the Beach are in a three-way tie for eighth with Arizona and Saint Mary's as all three squads are shooting 293 for 5-over.
The Beach are led by senior Hunter Epson and freshman Clay Seeber who are tied for 10th place. The duo are shooting 71 for 1-under par to lead Long Beach State. In the opening round, Seeber notched five birdies, three of which came on consecutive holes (10, 11, and 12). Meanwhile, Epson shot even with par on all holes except No. 9 in which he tallied a birdie.
Freshman Trip Morris is tied for 38th after the first round as he is shooting a 74 for 2-over par. Morris recorded four birdies in the first 18 holes including back-to-back birdies on holes 10 and 11.
Freshmen Owen Avrit and Isaac Rodea bring up the tail end for the Beach as the pair are shooting 5-over par with a 77.
The Beach will be back in action for the second round of the John A. Burns Intercollegiate on Friday, Feb. 21. Fans can follow all the Beach action via GolfStat.com.
