SAN DIEGO –
The Long Beach State women's volleyball team dropped its fourth-straight match, a 3-0 [8-25, 13-25, 23-25] sweep to San Diego on Saturday night at the USD Invitational.

The Beach close out the non-conference portion of their schedule with a 3-9 record, while the host Toreros move to 7-4 on the year.

Long Beach State struggled offensively throughout the match as the Beach hit .035 in the contest, while San Diego turned in a .315 attack percentage. USD led LBSU in all statistical categories as the Toreros went 3-0 in their tournament.

Sophomore outside hitter Kashauna Williams led all scorers with 11 kills, while freshman opposite Katie Kennedy added nine. Senior libero Hailey Harward collected 12 digs in the backrow, while sophomore middle Erin McFarland posted three blocks to lead the Beach at the net.

Carly Aigner-Swesey came in at setter for LBSU to replace an injured Tia Chavira. Aigner-Swesey finished the match with 22 assists.

San Diego started the match with four straight points and never looked back. The Toreros held the lead throughout the first set and used a 9-0 run to opened up an 18-4 lead. After LBSU made it a 20-7 game, USD closed the first set on a 6-1 run to win 25-8.

The second set began close, but the Beach fell behind after the Toreros went on an 8-1 run to break a 5-5 tie and take a 13-6 lead. San Diego used another 5-0 run to break the game open (18-7) before winning the set, 25-13.

The Beach took their first lead of the match in the third set as the final game was a battle from start to finish. The two teams fought through 10 ties and four lead changes before Williams evened the score at 23-all. With the set and match on the line, the Toreros got a kill from Grace Frohling to send it to match point before closing it out with a block by Lauren Turner and Hannah Patrick.

Frohling led the Toreros with nine kills on the night, while posting five blocks to share the lead with Turner and Megan Jacobson. Anna Newsome and Laura Madill split setter duties finishing with 17 and 10 assists, respectively, while Newsome added eight digs and two service aces.

Long Beach State begins Big West Conference action on Tuesday, Sept. 24 at Cal Poly. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
