LONG BEACH, Calif. – Freshman Aleea Caceres scored her first career goal for Long Beach State (0-2-0) on Friday night, but the Beach fell 3-1 against No. 7 Penn State at George Allen Field. The Beach trailed 1-0 at the half for the second straight game against a Top 10 team, and eventually fell behind 3-0 against the Nittany Lions before the Caceres goal.
Caceres earned her first career start for the Beach on Friday, and was able to score Long Beach State's first goal of the season with just over four minutes left to play. The freshman raced into the box and got on the end of a cross from sophomore Lena Silano. After her initial touch took her past the last Penn State defender, Caceres' second touch slotted the ball past the goalkeeper and into the back of the net.

Long Beach State nearly scored in the 62nd minute as a chance fell to Nadiyah Siqueiros, but her shot clanged off the post to keep the Beach scoreless. It was one of two shots by Siqueiros, who tied Caceres for the team lead. The assist for Silano is the first of her collegiate career.
Jillian Hiraga, Amanda Jones, and Jada Thomas each made their Long Beach State debuts on Friday night, with Angela Morales also making her first appearance for the Beach after redshirting last season.
The Beach will return to their home field on Monday night to host San Diego in a Labor Day matchup set for a 6 p.m. kickoff.
