LONG BEACH, Calif. – Head softball coach Kim Sowder has announced the signing of another Division I transfer over the summer, as Kyra Snyder will join the Beach after playing the last two seasons at Louisviile.
"Kyra brings two years of high level college experience, a strong competitive attitude and gives us the added depth that we need to compete for a championship in our program," said Sowder regarding her latest addition.
Synder hit .286 over two seasons at Louisville, and started all 58 games at first base last season for the Cardinals. Hitting .282 with six doubles, three home runs and 24 RBI, Snyder had an on-base percentage of .424, second-best among Louisville regulars last season. She then lifted her average to .345 over conference play.
Showing off her versatility, Snyder also made seven appearances in the circle over two seasons, striking out 23 and posting a 3.46 ERA.
A California native, Snyder was a three-year starter for Mission Viejo High School and won a pair of CIF titles while earning second-team All-State and being named the league MVP.
Snyder joins Abby Lockman as Division I newcomers to the Long Beach State softball program, and will have two years of eligibility remaining with the Beach.
