EAST LANSING, Mich. – After 18 holes at the NCAA East Lansing Regional at Forest Akers West Golf Course, Long Beach State Women's Golf sits in 16th on the team leaderboard. Junior Euna Pak was the top finisher of the day for Long Beach State, shooting a 1-over 73 to sit tied for 21st on the player leaderboard.
Pak opened her round with a bogey on the first hole, but recovered nicely with back-to-back birdies on Nos. 3 and 4. She would eventually make the turn at 1-over, and despite a bogey on 11 she would return to that mark by making a four on the Par-5 13th. From there, the junior made par on each of her final five holes to post the best round of the day for Long Beach State.
Classmate Maria Davis is tied for 43rd after shooting a 4-over 76 on Monday. Davis did not collect any birdies on Monday, but avoided too much trouble by only posting four bogeys in her first round. Seniors Haley Tygret and Cara Barker rounded out the scorers for the Beach on Monday, both shooting an opening-round 79.
Long Beach State will resume play with round two on Tuesday, and are paired with Harvard and IUPUI. The Beach will begin to tee off just after 10 a.m. ET/7 a.m. PT from the 10th tee, with live scoring again provided by GolfStat.com.
