
Beach Volleyball Earns a No. 3 Seed in the Big West Tournament

Long Beach State will play No. 6 seed CSU Bakersfield on Friday, April 26 at 11 a.m.

LONG BEACH, Calif. – The 2019 Big West Conference Beach Volleyball Tournament bracket was announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon and Long Beach State earned a No. 3 seed. The Beach will play No. 6 seed CSU Bakersfield on Friday, April 26 at 11 a.m. at Zuma Beach in Malibu, Calif.
All seven Big West teams advance to the double-elimination tournament on Friday and Saturday. No. 1 seed Hawai'i received a first round bye and will play the winner of the No. 5 seed UC Davis / No. 4 seed CSUN match.
The No. 12 Beach finished the regular season with an 18-9 overall record after going 11-2 when playing in Long Beach. LBSU strung together nine-straight victories and rose to as high as No. 8 in the national rankings.
The Beach have been led by the tandems of Zoi Konstantopoulou / Nicci Reinking and Megan Kruidhof / Mari Molina. The pairs have traded places playing at the No. 1 and No. 2 flights throughout the season. Konstantopoulou and Reinking have put together a 17-10 overall record and are 6-2 when playing at No. 1 and 11-8 when playing at No. 2. Meanwhile Kruidhof and Molina own a 20-7 mark with a 13-6 ledger at No. 1 and a 7-1 record at the No. 2 spot.
A win on over CSU Bakersfield will move the Beach into the winner's bracket as they will face the winner of the No. 2 seed Cal Poly / No. 7 seed Sacramento State match. A loss will drop Long Beach State into the loser's bracket.
