Balanced Beach Finish Day Two at El Macero Classic

All five Long Beach State golfers finished within four shots of one another, shooting between 72-76 during Saturday’s second round at the El Macero Classic. Freshman Tyler Schafer led the way at even par on Saturday and Hunter Epson remains Top 10 for the tournament with 18 holes left to play.
EL MACERO, Calif. – Long Beach State completed the second round at the El Macero Classic on Saturday, and all five player shot between even par and 4-over on the day. Freshman Tyler Schafer had the low score of the day for Long Beach State, shooting an even-par 72 to take eight strokes off his opening-round score.
Junior Hunter Epson remains in the top 10 on the individual leaderboard, sitting in a tie for ninth entering Sunday's final round. He shot a 1-over 73 on Saturday, collecting five bogeys and four birdies in his round.
Schafer had quite the mercurial round on Saturday, and was actually 5-over for his round after 10 holes. Despite shooting a double bogey and a triple bogey in his round, Schafer was able to get back to even with five birdies in a six-hole span. The Long Beach native birdied four straight holes from Nos. 13-16 to close his day on a hot streak and post LBSU's best round of the day.
The rest of the lineup wasn't far behind as freshman Bryce Kvick shot a 2-over 74 and junior Joe Fryer posted a 75 to sit tied for 29th on the leaderboard. Junior Hunter Reed was just behind Fryer with a 76 on Saturday, shaving seven shots off his opening number.
The final round begins with a 7:30 a.m. tee time for Long Beach State on Sunday at El Macero Country Club.
