Nick Amado Collects Big West Conference Defensive Player of the Week Accolades

Amado earns the honors after hitting .882 (15-0-17) on the week and averaging 2.17 blocks per set

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Redshirt senior middle blocker Nick Amado was named Big West Conference Defensive Player of the Week after turning in an outstanding performance last week in Long Beach State's two 3-0 sweeps over No. 11 CSUN.

Amado played well on both sides of the ball as he averaged 2.17 blocks per set, while hitting a whopping .882 with 15 kills on 17 swings without committing an error.

The 6-foot-6 product out of Aliso Niguel, Calif., tallied four blocks against CSUN on Friday night, then came back the next day and tied his career-high with nine blocks against the Matadors.

Amado was dominant in the Beach's road win at CSUN as he added eight kills on nine errorless swings for an .889 attack percentage to go along with his nine blocks at the net.

Amado and Long Beach State will be back in action on Friday, March 8 at 7 p.m. when they host No. 8 Stanford at the Walter Pyramid.
