No. 9 Beach Volleyball Wins Two Matches on Final Day of Big West Challenge

The Beach earn a pair of sweeps over CSUN and UC Davis on Sunday afternoon
PISMO BEACH, Calif. – After dropping a 5-0 contest to No. 6 Hawaii to start the final day of the Big West Challenge, No. 9 Long Beach State bounced back and collected back-to-back sweeps of CSUN and UC Davis to close out the day.
Long Beach State is now 17-5 on the year and has won 11 of its last 12 matches, while Hawaii improves to 18-6 overall. With the losses, CSUN drops to 8-10, while UC Davis falls to 4-7.
The Beach started the day with a 5-0 setback against the sixth-ranked Rainbow Wahine. Mari Molina and Megan Kruidhof took Hawaii's top pair to three sets before falling 15-9 in the third.
The loss snapped a nine-match winning streak, but the Beach were unfazed. LBSU came back a few hours later and dominated CSUN winning in two sets at all flights except for the fours.
Molina and Kruidhof played at No. 1 and handed Daniella Molinari and Seyvion Waggoner a 21-9, 21-11 loss as the pair turned in a solid performance all day.
The Beach continued their strong showing into the last match of the day as they picked up another sweep, this time over UC Davis. Long Beach State's flights 1-4 won in straight sets as Molina and Kruidhof once again led the way with a 21-13, 21-6 win over the Aggies' top flight of Lauren Matias and Jane Seslar.
Long Beach State will be back in action on Thursday, April 11 when it travels to No. 2 USC. The match is set for 1 p.m.
