Beach Tennis Starts Road Trip With 5-2 Win Over San Francisco

Long Beach State pulls away with four singles wins.
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Long Beach State improved to 5-0 with a solid road win, defeating San Francisco at the Olympic Club in San Francisco.
Long Beach State (5-0) took control of the match early with a strong doubles performance. Natalia Munoz and Lalita Devarakonda defeated Margarita Treyes and Shanna Dos Santos 6-2, while Emma Bardet and Zara Lennon won by the same margin over Hannah Borjeson and Rita Colyer to take a 1-0 lead.
Devarakonda led off the singles wins with a convincing 6-1, 6-2 victory over Dos Santos, and Munoz followed with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Treyes at No. 3 to put the Beach out in front 3-0.
San Francisco (5-4) pulled back a point as Emily Maxfield defeated Bardet in the second flight before Dominique Meyer sealed the match with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Colyer.
The Beach and the Dons split the final two matches, with Rutkowska improving to 4-1 in singles on the season with a victory over Mya Bui in the top flight, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1.
Long Beach State's trip to the Bay Area continues tomorrow when the Beach plays at Saint Mary's, starting at 11 a.m.
