Beach Get Big West Preview at John A. Burns Intercollegiate in Hawai’i

Long Beach State men’s golf will participate in the John A. Burns Intercollegiate this weekend at Wailua Golf Club in Lihue, Hawai’i, the site of the 2019 Big West Championships. It is a three-day competition running Thursday-Saturday with 20 teams competing.
LIHUE, Hawai'i – Beach Men's Golf will tee it up in the islands this week, as Long Beach State is one of 20 teams competing at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate at Wailua Golf Club this Thursday through Saturday. The three-day competition opens with a an 8 a.m. HT shotgun start on Thursday, which is at 10 a.m. PT. The golf course, located on the island of Kaua'i, will also be the site of the 2019 Big West Championships beginning Apr. 29.
Long Beach State will compete against the likes of Arizona, Arizona State, BYU, Duke, Fresno State, Grand Canyon, New Mexico, North Carolina, Northern Colorado, St. Mary's, Texas A&M, UNLV, UTEP, Virginia, and Washington State, along with fellow Big West competitors Hawai'i, CSUN, UC Irvine, and UC Santa Barbara.
Junior Hunter Epson will look to continue his solid play after leading the Beach in each of its last two tournaments. After a career-best finish at the Arizona Intercollegiate, he bested it with a Top 5 finish at The Farms Invitational his last time out. He will lead the LBSU lineup this week, followed by senior Joe Fryer, freshman Tyler Schafer, freshman Bryce Kvick, and junior Hunter Reed.
There will be a total of 114 golfers competing at the event, with an 8 a.m. HT/10 a.m. PT shotgun start each day. Live scoring for the John A. Burns Intercollegiate will be available via GolfStat.com.
