Beach Tennis Stays Unbeaten With 4-1 Win Over CSUN

Long Beach State is now 2-0 in Big West Conference play.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State rolled to another home win in the Rhodes Tennis Center on Friday, dropping CSUN 4-1 to win a second Big West Conference match this season.
A familiar foe at this point in the season after seeing the Matadors in prior tournament competition, Long Beach State (4-0, 2-0 Big West) in their first dual match this season with CSUN (3-2, 0-2 Big West)
Long Beach State's freshman duo of Dominique Meyer and Wiktoria Rutkowska continued to impress in doubles, rolling to a 6-2 win over Monika Van de Vondel and Jolene Coetzee in the top flight. Natalia Munoz and Lalita Devarakonda then sealed the doubles point by holding off Skyla Alcon and Ana Toboso 7-5.
The lone upperclassman for the Beach, Munoz led the way in singles as well, cruising to a 6-2, 6-1 win over Alcon at No. 3. Rutkowska picked up another point for the Beach in the top flight, winning 6-3, 6-1 over Van de Vondel to put the Beach up 3-1.
The Beach was forced to shift their lineup up and the Matadors took advantage at No. 6, with Sibel Demirbaga defeating Sadaf Sadeghvaziri 6-1, 6-3, but Devarakonda closed out the match with a 6-3, 6-3, win at No. 5 to wrap up the win.
Long Beach State heads up to the Bay Area next week to play two matches. On Friday, the Beach will face San Francisco before taking on Saint Mary's on Saturday.
