LBSU Splits Matches on Day One of CSUN Fall Tournament

The Beach opened the 2019 CSUN Fall Tournament on Friday splitting the results in its six matches. Wiktoria Rutkowska was the top performer of the day for the Beach, winning both her singles contest and her doubles match with partner Carlota Casasampere.
NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – Beach Tennis continued its fall schedule on Friday, opening the 2019 CSUN Fall Tournament. Wiktoria Rutkowska led the way for the Beach with wins in singles and doubles, as the Beach started the tournament with six matches on the opening day.
Rutkowska is in Flight A for singles and scored a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Shir Azran from Fresno State in her Round of 16 match. Also picking up a singles win for the Beach was Lalita Devarakonda, who battled back for a 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 win over Utah State's Lucy Octave in Flight B of singles. Both players will advance to the quarterfinal round of their respective brackets. The quarterfinal and semifinal rounds for singles will be played on Saturday, scheduled for 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., respectively.
In doubles, Rutkowska partered with Carlota Casasampere for a 6-2 win over the pair of Halla Badwy and Alexandra Heczey of North Texas. The Beach duo advances to the semifinals in Flight A doubles, which will be played at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
