Sophomore Hannah Ko led three players at or under par Tuesday for the Beach.

BOULDER CITY, Nev. – Putting it all together for the final day of the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown, Long Beach State shot a two-under par 286 as a team to propel the Beach to a third-place finish among the 18-team field at Boulder Creek Golf Club.

Senior Maria Davis shared the team lead following the second round on Monday, and continued to do so at the conclusion of the event with a good day Tuesday, carding an even-par 72 to finish in a tie for 11th overall at the Los Vegas Collegiate Showdown.

She ultimately would share the team lead and that final placing with sophomore Hunter Pate. Returning to her hometown of Las Vegas, Pate saved the best for last with a pair of birdies on the final day to shoot a collegiate-low 71. That score lifted her into a tie with Davis for the best score on the team as well as a share of 11th place.

"This was a great way for us to end our fall," said head coach Joey Cerulle. "The round today paints a clear picture of what the team will look like and what we can accomplish during the remainder of the season."

Sophomore Hannah Ko had the top round of the day for Long Beach State. The sophomore had finished outside the scoring on the first two days, but rallied in a big way. Finishing Tuesday with birdies in two of her final three holes, Ko shot a two-under par 70, her best collegiate round, and lifted herself into 33rd place overall.

Senior Holland Shourds slipped slightly with a 77 Tuesday but still finished in the top third of the field with a 226, good for a tie for 28th place, while Euna Pak was one stroke back in a tie for 33rd overall.

The Beach finished in third place among 18 teams, trailing only the hosts UNLV and San Francisco by two strokes as well as finishing ahead of programs such as Fresno State and Colorado State as well as a pair of Big West programs in UC Irvine and UC Riverside.

Long Beach State will take a few months off and then return to competition in the spring, beginning with the Mission Hills Four-Way on January 24, 2020.
