
Men’s Golf Places Eighth At Ram Masters Invitational

Freshman Tyler Schafer had the low round of the day for the Beach as Long Beach State concluded its first tournament of the season in Fort Collins, Colo.
FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- Long Beach State men's golf completed the third and final round of the Ram Masters Invitational on Tuesday, finishing in eighth place in the team's first tournament of the season. Freshman Tyler Schafer shot a 2-over round of 72 on Tuesday to lead the Beach.
Schafer ended the event in a tie for 15th, posting a total score of 213 (+3) for the week. The freshman from Long Beach was able to birdie the 2nd hole and ended the day on a high note with a birdie on 18. After a strong opening day, senior Niels Andersen ended in a tie for 25th, posting a combined total of 215 (+5). Junior Hunter Epson shot a round of 75 on Tuesday, getting a boost from his eagle on the par-5 15th hole.
Long Beach State finished with a team total of 864 for the week, sitting just a shot back of Wichita State in seventh place and 10 shots back South Dakota in third.
The Beach will continue its fall season next week in Sammamish, Wash. for the Husky Invitational, hosted by the University of Washington. The first two rounds will be played on Tuesday, Sep. 25 and the final round will take place on Wednesday, Sep. 26 at Aldarra Golf Club.
