No. 6 Long Beach State A Busy Host This Weekend

Long Beach, Calif. - No. 6 Beach Volleyball is back in action this weekend, hosting six matches on Saturday before holding a tri-dual on Sunday afternoon starting at 1 p.m. The Beach will be involved in five of those matches, and hold their senior ceremony prior to the start of the match against No. 16 Loyola Marymount on Sunday.
The weekend starts with an interesting exhibition match, as Long Beach State (18-4) begins a long day on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. against some cross-town competition in Long Beach City College. The Vikings will then face Utah (0-5) before the first Division I matchup of the day as LBSU faces the Utes with a start scheduled for Noon.
Long Beach City will close their time on campus with a third exhibition against CSU Bakersfield (5-11), and then after the Runners and Utes play a neutral match, Long Beach State will close out the day's action by facing their Big West opponent CSUB for the third time this season with a start scheduled for 5:15 p.m.
Returning to the courts on Sunday, Long Beach State will honor their senior class prior to the tri-dual scheduled to start at 11 a.m., recognizing the incredible efforts of Nele Barber, Anete Brinke, Sasha Karelov, Hannah Matt, and Rachel Nieto.
The marquee match of the weekend will then start the day, featuring two ranked teams as No. 6 Long Beach State welcomes in No. 16 Loyola Marymount (16-11) to start the day. The Lions will then play Utah in a neutral match, and the Beach closes the day by facing the Utes in their fifth and final match of the weekend.
Long Beach State has held even at No. 6 in the AVCA poll, and will look to keep pace with the other national leaders as we move into the final month of the season. The Beach has 11 players with 10 or more wins already this season, led by Marisa Ramsey who has gone 19-1, playing primarily at No. 5 with Hannah Matt.
