Freshman Garrett Zaan Named Golden Coast Conference Player Of The Week

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Garrett Zaan was named Golden Coast Player of the Week after helping No. 6 Long Beach State surpass then No. 5 Pacific. The Beach battled the Tigers into OT, where Zaan had an important goal that would push LBSU over Pacific. Zaan would score against No. 20 San Jose State and add two more goals against No. 13 LMU to stretch his streak to 10 consecutive games with a goal scored.

Zaan is the first player to be named GCC player of the week this season and only the third player to be named GCC POTW for LBSU since joining the GCC back in 2016. Junior Austin Stevenson last won the award back on Oct. 27 of the 2017 season. Zaan is now the first freshman to win the GCC POTW in LBSU history.

The freshman scored his first career goal with the Beach against No. 2 Stanford back in Oct. 11 and hasn't looked back since. Zaan has now tallied 18 goals on the season and is hoping to push his streak tonight against the No. 11 UC Irvine Anteaters at 7 p.m. at the Ken Lindgren Aquatics Center.
