No. 6 Beach Falls To No. 3 Stanford

Los Angeles, Calif. — In a hard-fought game against No. 3 Stanford, No. 6 Long Beach State fell to the Cardinal 9-6 Saturday.

LBSU jumped out to a 2-1 first quarter lead thanks to a pair of goals from Chandler Kaltenbach.

Stanford's defense held strong, while the Cardinal went on a 4-0 run to take a 5-2 lead at halftime.

LBSU (8-4) got one goal in the second from Austin Stewart to make it 8-3 after the third quarter.

The Beach got its offense going in the fourth thanks to goals from Max Cusator, Duncan Lynde and C. Kaltenbach, but it wasn't enough as LBSU fell 9-6.

In the game LBSU outshot Stanford 33-26, but only had a .182 shooting percentage.

Stanford also added a goal on a penalty shot.

LBSU will now take on No. 10 UC Irvine at 4:30 p.m.
